Eugene McManus scored two solid points-scoring finishes with an 8th in the Sprint Race followed by a 6th in the Feature Race at Cadwell Park.
Qualifying
After two free practice sessions on Saturday, Eugene McManus progressed straight into Q2 on his Triumph Triple Street 765. Eugene put in one of his best qualifying performances this season finishing seventh quickest and just 0.337 seconds from the front row.
Sprint Race
Eugene found himself down in tenth place after lap one and on the narrow Cadwell Park circuit it was going to prove difficult to recover positions. A further issue on lap four saw the older McManus brother drop to 13th. On lap seven the Completely Motorbikes / Affinity Sports Academy rider laid down his fastest lap of the race and rode on to cross the finish line in a positive 8th position.
Feature Race
Eugene McManus made a superb start from 13th on the grid making up four positions on the opening lap as he moved into ninth. Early on in the race he battled for fifth spot in a group of eight riders.
The Randalstown rider rose to sixth place as the race went on and held off a strong challenge from two rivals to take the flag.
Round nine of the British Supersport Championship takes place at Oulton Park from 15th to 17th September.
Eugene said, “This weekend I have a lot of positives to take away with things we learnt with the bike Unfortunately we took a wrong step in race 1 but then in race 2 I felt strong and was happy until a small mistake lost me a lot of time. I will keep working towards making improvements for Oulton Park”
