The number 14 Completely Motorbikes / Affinity Sports Academy Completely picked up two more Championship points in round four of the British Supersport Championship.
Competing on the short 1.3 mile Knockhill circuit in Fife James took 13th in the Sprint Race on Saturday whilst an early crash on the opening lap in the Feature Race meant he was unable to add to Saturday’s success.
Qualifying
James made a successful start to the Knockhill weekend. He clocked the 14th fastest time in FP1 before improving further in FP2 to finish 12th in the British Supersport category.
Due to the race being made up of British Supersport and GP2 bikes his grid position would be 18th for the Sprint Race.
Sprint Race
There were some nervous looks around the grid as the riders took up their positions with a few spots of rain falling. Fortunately, that was all it was.
James made a good start to his race. Having lined up on the grid in 18th he quickly made up a couple of positions at the beginning of the race.
James made some pretty consistent lap times throughout the 20 laps and came home in a very solid 13th position to pick up two championship points.
Feature Race
James’ fastest lap time in Saturday’s Sprint Race was used to determine hius grid position for the 26-lap Feature Race on Sunday. His best of his 50.631 meant he again lined up 18th on the grid.
Unfortunately for James, he made a small mistake going into the final hairpin on lap one and crashed out of the race meaning he was unable to add to the points tally from Saturday.
James said, “I’m happy with the progress we made this weekend, more points on the board in race one and I mistake made in race 2 spoiled an other wise good weekend, looking forward to Snetterton now to continue learning .”
