Eugene McManus Junior, the promising 24-year-old motorcycle racer, is gearing up to take part in the Catalunya Round of the World Supersport 2024. While not vying for the top spot just yet, McManus is focused on improving upon his previous performances at the competitive World level.
McManus has been continuously building his experience, with wildcard appearances in races at the World Superbike level over the past few years. His World Supersport journey began in May 2021 at Estoril, where he rode the Yamaha YZF R6 for WRP Wepol Racing. Continuing with the same team in June 2021 at Misano, McManus showcased his potential with a commendable result of 20th.
In April 2022, McManus shifted gears to ride for Motozoo Racing by Puccetti at Aragon on a Kawasaki ZX 6R, followed by another outing at Assen.
In 2023 that McManus found himself making headlines for the wrong reasons at the Donington Park World Supersport event. An unfortunate incident, where he was clipped on lap one, resulted in a crash and his bike turning into a fireball.
Having competed in the British Supersport category of the British Superbikes for the past three years, McManus has steadily shown progress, reaching the podium at Knockhill in 2022 and achieving further podium success at the final race last season at Brands Hatch.
Now, in 2024, McManus is poised to continue his journey of growth and development at the World Supersport level. He will be aboard the Ducati Panigale V2 at the Catalunya Round from 22nd to 24th May 2024.
Speaking about his upcoming participation, McManus expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I’m excited for the opportunity to compete at Catalunya. Every race is a chance to learn and improve, and I’m grateful for the support of my team and sponsors.”
